Hyperborea 07:20
There is a sickness deep within From time immemorial All consuming All destroying Inevitable I will not depart like this Focus now... Transference No ship nor marching feet will help me find my way I must leave the body behind to reach a realm of eternal day A land untouched by disease, old age or needless war Roam the Garden of Apollon, forget the life that I abhor I will not depart like this Focus now... Transference Letting go of the body Clinging to the mind To free myself of its cold claws To rid myself of the blight To go beyond the north wind To never see the night To live the rest of my days In perpetual sunlight

Above the mortal realm, the centre of all galaxies Gathered again under a starlit canopy Creators of fate, writers of all history We have always been here Spread through existence like a disease But you are all oblivious We form your greatest triumphs We plant your unyielding fears Unknown and insidious Watchers of the worlds Good and evil preconceived The Cosmic Eye is open Standing right beside you Lurking in your dreams The Cosmic Eye is open We have seen you crawl from the oceans We have seen you climb down from the trees Dictating evolution We have watched the rise of empires Decided exactly when they fall Inciting revolution Watchers of the worlds Good and evil preconceived The Cosmic Eye is open Standing right beside you Lurking in your dreams The Cosmic Eye is open With just one glance from the Eye... With just one glance from the Eye Existence changes shape and thrives With just one glance from the Eye Existence suffocates and dies All was made for our amusement Lives made to twist and turn Free will is an illusion And when we're done, all shall burn Life is ephemeral Our power eternal Here at the centre of all galaxies Watchers of the worlds Good and evil preconceived The Cosmic Eye is open Standing right beside you Lurking in your dreams The Cosmic Eye is open

Ghosting 10:27
Winter once again Footprints long faded Following the path you took The path of no return Images on the water A face over my shoulder Ghosting me We used to haunt this remote landscape Losing ourselves among the hills Long days and nights under luminous skies This is where you said it all would end Never quite believing Never really knew just how deep it ran You always came back It seems like a lifetime ago But unlike the footprints, you won't fade Now you alone haunt this remote landscape Now you alone haunt my wake and dreams I see your face under the water Forever ghosting me

Searching, ever-searching To find my way back to the land of the living No sense of time nor restful sleep Trapped in a realm between death and dream A fable told once long ago Enough to long for insomnia A place an unlucky few ever know A sleepwalker's dystopia No escape from this tomb Where those who walk in their sleep are condemned Signs of those who have come before Sickening traces of their end Anguished faces line the landscape Their horror etched in stone Monuments to those expired Somnambulant and alone I know now My spirit will never leave this tomb Disconnected My body knows not it's doom No escape from this tomb Where those who walk in their sleep are condemned Signs of those who have come before Sickening traces of their end Anguished faces line the landscape Their horror etched in stone This is where I expire Somnambulant and alone
5.
I step beyond the border Into the watching wilderness A path left by the lost who went before The mysteries unfurl The mists obscure the outside world And in the dark the shadows bloom like flowers I hear the quiet call Inside the darkly dreaming earth To follow where the crawling creature goes The creeping brightness slows The town deserted, overgrown And in the distance the lighthouse no longer glows Alien to us An attempt at survival Like distant tide pools Spread through the universe Linked in ways we cannot comprehend Ingestion of the spores The brightness grows within Every sense is magnified With the dark there comes the sound The creatures in the reeds Every fear intensifies The need to terraform The writing on the walls A living communication The life form in the tower So far away from home Horrific transmutations 'Where lies the strangling fruit that came from the hand of the sinner I shall bring forth the seeds of the dead to share with the worms...' 'In the black water with the sun shining at midnight That which is golden is the fatal revelation' Years and years pass by Stitching in the sky It's ultimate creation The borders are expanding There's still little understanding There is no cessation...

Death Chant 13:47
I have been marked with death This path once so familiar Now leads me into the unknown The trees they stare at me With an all too knowing sneer Twisted and gnarled In these woods I once found solace Now only misery prevails In the clearing where I found you Breathing shallow, body frail I know my time has come Into the night Celestial light Constellations guide me Grant me sight Time slows down... Down to a sickly crawl Flashes of white Hinder my sight The constellations falter The fear ignites Slower now A glacial drip The death chant conquers all Transcendental melody Otherworldly threnody Away from the light Funereal rite Within and throughout Playing me out I hear the death chant

about

'Realms' is the fifth Lysithea release, continuing on the melodic death/doom path laid out on 'The Secret Fate of All Life'. It was independently released with a limited-run CD pressing.

Reviews:
------------
"Lysithea manage to cater to both the doom and melodic death crowds in equal favor with Realms. On the one hand, you’ll hear all the hallmarks of solid doom/death: elaborate and lengthy songs, somber atmospheres with a harsh/soft dynamic blended in, and punishing roars. The type of thing that would appease many fans of Daylight Dies, Atten Ash, or Woccon. Yet they strike a distinct balance with melodic death metal’s twin guitar harmonies. Those who still yearn for the type that The Jester Race-era In Flames could pull off, or even a more doom-rooted band like Insomnium at their more upbeat moments."
- deadrhetoric.com

"The slow pull into its maelstrom of kick drum and guitar is the kind of beautiful trudge you'd expect from doom metal, but there's an explosive energy here too, a fusion of the dulcet and gloomy that continues to set Lysithea a notch above, and it threads the album beginning to end...Realms is every drop the sumptuous, worthwhile recording any gloom-eared metalhead could beg the Elder Gods for."
